Where is the event held?

Tickets & Entry

Where can I buy tickets?

Tickets are available in person at three retail locations: That’s Cool (St. Vital Centre), Primo’s Toys (Polo Park), and Primo’s Toys (Garden City Centre). Regular Entry: $10 — VIP: $25. No online sales.

Are tickets available at the door?

Tickets are sold in person only — no online sales. Pick up your ticket before the event at That’s Cool (St. Vital Centre), Primo’s Toys (Polo Park), or Primo’s Toys (Garden City Centre).

What does a General Admission ticket include?

Regular Entry ($10) grants access to all convention areas, the vendor hall, exhibitors, gaming competitions, and general programming during event hours. VIP ($25) adds early access, VIP seating for stage shows, priority lines for celebrity access, and a Winnipeg Horror Con swag bag. Some celebrity photo ops and autograph sessions are priced separately.

Are there tickets for children?

Children’s ticket pricing information will be confirmed closer to the event. Check back here or follow us on social media for announcements. Entrants under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

On the Day

What should I bring?

Bring your ticket and a valid ID, plus cash or card for vendors and photo ops. Comfortable footwear is recommended — the convention floor is large. Stay hydrated and take breaks as needed.

Is there a dress code?

Costumes and horror-themed dress are strongly encouraged! There is no strict dress code, but all attendees are expected to follow our Code of Conduct. Please review the Props & Costume Weapons Policy before attending.

Can I bring props and costume weapons?

Props are welcome, but all props must be peace-bonded and inspected at the registration table upon entry. No functional weapons of any kind. Pyrotechnics and open flames are strictly prohibited. See the full Props & Costume Weapons Policy for a complete list of what is and isn’t allowed.

Is food available at the venue?

Assiniboia Downs has on-site food and beverage options. Additional vendor options may be available inside the convention. We recommend having a meal before attending to make the most of your time on the floor.

Will there be re-entry?

Autographs & Photo Ops

How do autograph and photo-op sessions work?

Celebrity autograph and photo-op sessions take place throughout the day in designated areas. Some sessions are included with admission; others may require a separate session ticket. Full details will be published closer to the event date.

Will there be long queues for celebrity guests?

Popular guests may have longer queues. We recommend arriving early and checking the schedule for session times as soon as it’s published so you can plan your day accordingly.

How do I become a vendor or exhibitor?

Complete the vendor application form on our Vendors & Exhibitors page. We review all submissions and respond with availability and pricing details.

When will the vendor floor plan be available?

The full floor plan will be published on the Vendors & Exhibitors page closer to the event date. Follow our social media channels for updates.

Costume Contest Rules

When are the contests?

14 and Under: 2:00 pm at the Stage area
15 and Over: 7:00 pm at the Stage area

Who is eligible?

All registered attendees of Winnipeg Horror Con 2026 are eligible to enter. Entrants under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Costumes may be handmade, modified, or purchased — originality and creativity weigh heavily in judging.

How do I register for the contest?

Pre-registration is encouraged to guarantee a spot. On-site sign-ups are accepted until spaces are filled. Each participant must complete a Costume Entry Form with their name, character, source material, and contact information. Groups of 2 or more may enter as a single entry. Email wpghorrorcon@gmail.com for a contestant form.

What are the costume guidelines?

Costumes for the 14 and under division must be family-friendly (up to PG-13 level) — no nudity, excessive gore, or offensive imagery. No functional weapons. Props must be peace-bonded and inspected at check-in. No pyrotechnics, open flames, or liquids that could create a hazard.

How are costumes judged?

Contestants are evaluated on: Craftsmanship (skill, detail, and quality), Accuracy or Creativity (faithfulness to source material or originality), Presentation (stage presence and confidence), and Overall Impact (wow factor and audience reaction).

What awards are given?

Awards include: Best in Show, Best Horror Character, Best Group or Duo, Best Makeup & Special Effects, Judge’s Choice / Scariest Costume. Winners receive certificates, trophies, or sponsor-donated prizes, and may be featured on event media and social channels. Categories subject to change based on entries.
